Guangzhou (JLC), February 18, 2024 – JLC has recently received a thank-you letter from the Shanghai Petroleum and Natural Gas Exchange (SHPGX), who acknowledged JLC's excellent services and expressed appreciation for JLC's support and trust over the past year.
"JLC's innovative sprit and overall strength have greatly contributed to SHPGX's success and breakthroughs in 2023", the Shanghai-based exchange said in the thank-you letter, acknowledging JLC's support and professionalism.
Gas trade volume through SHPGX reached 121.45 billion cubic meters (bcm) in 2023, a record high, it said. Meanwhile, several CNY-settled liquefied natural gas (LNG) deals were completed through SHPGX, including deals between CNOOC and TotalEnergies, between PetroChina and ADNOC, and between CNOOC and Pavilion Energy, JLC previously reported.
Notably, China's first crude purchase in e-CNY (China's digital yuan) was completed via SHPGX last year, JLC reported earlier.
Founded in 2015 and with a registered capital of CNY1 billion, SHPGX is a joint venture of state-run Xinhua News Agency, PetroChina, Sinopec, CNOOC, Beijing Gas, Shenergy Group, ENN, China Gas, Towngas and China Huaneng, according to its website.
JLC's professionalism and expertise were highly recognized by SHPGX, as it has been providing professional, comprehensive and timely services to the Shanghai-based exchange since the establishment of the cooperation.
The year 2023 also marked a fruitful year for JLC as it hosted or co-organized multiple conventions, forums or seminars at home and abroad, including key events in cities such as Dalian and Ningbo, and two international oil seminars in Singapore.
JLC was invited to the 39th Asia Pacific Petroleum Conference (APPEC) in Singapore and the 20th International Conference & Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG2023) in Vancouver last year. It was also invited to the Global Digital Economy Conference (GDEC) 2023 held in Beijing in July.
In addition, JLC signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the National Development and Reform Commission's Price Monitoring Center – a key unit of China's top economic planner – in March 2023, and received a thank-you letter from it at the end of the year.
Looking ahead, JLC and SHPGX will continue to expand cooperation and contribute to the development of the energy and commodities industries, and promote energy cooperation and dialogues between China and the rest of the world.
